Gyllene Tider - The Latest News

Tonight the Grammis Awards were held, moved to the Grand Hotel. Gyllene received two out of four awards - Popgroup of the Year and Music-DVD of the year. The TV4 broadcast was horrible.

Vote for "Tuffa tider" as Song of the Year in the Grammis awards. The Grammis Awards are held at the China Theater in Stockholm Feb. 7. Oh and by the way, the DVD "En scen vid en plats i en stad" is also nominated for a Grammis, so Gyllene Tider has four nominations in total, and Per Gessle one.

Tonight the Rockbjörnen award show was held at Cirkus in Stockholm. Gyllene Tider was nominated as Best Group, Best Album and Best Song ("Tuffa tider"). They won Best Group and Best Album, while Best Song went to The Hives and "Walk Idiot Walk".

We're getting another single off of "Finn 5 fel!", namely "Jag borde förstås vetat bättre", with the T&A demos of "Speciell" and "Tuffa tider" as the b-sides. The single will be out in January [changed to Feb. 2, Groundhog Day], and the sleeve will feature an old picture of Per from '66, wearing yellow pajamas "eagerly awaiting the Dumle lollipop of the day!!!", according to Per himself.

The Grammis nominations are out and Gyllene Tider is nominated in the following three categories: Popgroup of the Year, Song of the Year ("Tuffa tider/En sten vid en sjö i en skog") and Artist of the Year. Per Gessle is nominated as Composer of the Year. Read more at IFPI's site.

The DVD went straight into #9 on the DVD chart, but there is no bonus material on it what-so-ever. The CD turned out to be a single CD, but great anyway.
Gyllene Tider has been nominated in this year's Rockbjörnen - Best Group, Best Album and Best Song ("Tuffa tider"). Per also received a nomination as Best Male. Read more here (and vote of course!).

"En scen vid en plats i en stad" - new DVD and double-CD by Gyllene Tider! The DVD will be released Nov 24 and contains, among "lots of bonus material", the full Gothenburg concert. The live CD will be released a bit later than the DVD, but my guess is that it's out way before Christmas. "We knew the tour would be a success so we recorded all the concerts. Anything else would have been stupid," tells Anders Herrlin in a press statement.

Monday October 4 at 20:15 CET Per Gessle will receive the unique Stim-Guitar in platinum. This is the first time ever it will be presented. The Stim-Guitar will be presented by Stim's CEO Kenth Muldin. The Platinum Stim-Guitar is presented to Per Gessle due to the exceptionally successful Gyllene Tider summer tour where Gessle has composed the majority of the material performed.
STIM - the Swedish Performing Rights Society - protects the interests of authors and publishers of music in Sweden.

According to Ginza and CDON "Parkliv" will be relased on DVD next week, Wednesday to be exact. The "Karaoke Hits!" DVD will be released as well.
Per Gessle has been nominated twice as Best Swedish Artist in the Nordic Music Awards - once as a solo artist and once in Gyllene Tider.

Gyllene Tider will perform in Oslo Oct 21 at the Nordic Music Awards, that's what Verdens Gang says at least. Also the new single, "Solsken" will be released September 29. The b-sides you can read about in the discography section. No sleeve available yet.

The biggest Nordic tour ever has come to an end. More than 492,000 people attended the anniversary tour. All the concerts were sold out. In addition to this "Finn 5 fel!" has sold over 210,000 copies so far.
But the party isn't over, there will be a new live DVD out before Christmas, with "a lot of secret goodies" on according to Per. Also a possible live album will be released, and a new b-sides album with never before released demos. It's going to be a great fall!

"Finn 5 fel!" is back as #1 after a temporary visit by the Hives. "Mazarin" has been on the charts for 59 consecutive weeks and is at #27 this week, while "GT25!" has sold gold and is at #6. Tomorrow Gyllene Tider will play Ullevi as the biggest Swedish act ever. So far 58,000 tickets have been sold, and Bruce Springsteen's record from last summer is 58,310...

"Finn 5 fel!" has sold triple platinum (180,000) now. A bit slower than expected, but still, it's only been out a month and a half! The tour continues with record breaking numbers. So far Gyllene Tider has performed 11 concerts. About 250,000 people have seen them so far. More pictures will be uploaded as soon as there's time. After two jam packed concerts in Halmstad the tour is officially on the road. Over 50,000 people have seen GT already. The opening concert was nice, but not great, the boys were seemingly nervous. They played great at least, but to my personal grief the songs were almost identical to the '96 återtåget tour. The setlist needs to be changed, boys! Anyways, here's the setlist(s) for the first two concerts:

The second exhibition about Gyllene Tider has opened its doors to the public. This one is called "gyllene popkonst - en resa genom 25 år" ("golden pop art - a journey through 25 years") and is all about records. Per Gessle's, Gyllene Tider's and Roxette's. All in all over 500 records are exhibited.
The entrance is free, although one can leave a voluntary contiribution. If you do you may win a ticket to the final concert in Halmstad, or the Gyllene Tider book written by Jan-Owe Wikström.
The exhibit is so far a success, the creators are very happy. "We had more visitors hanging on the ropes than the big exhibition at the museum the opening day," Jocke Andersson says with a satisfied smile.
Pop25 is open 11-17 CET Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, except for the concert week when it's open all week.

Gyllene performed a "secret" mini gig at Leif's Lounge in Halmstad yesterday. It was supposed to be a dress rehearsal before the Allsång på Skansen program on Tuesday. It was very appreciated.

"Finn 5 fel" was released yesterday, and sold 123,000 copies in 22 hours. That's double platinum! The boys commented "We are overwhelmed, happy and touched. Retouched!"

Gyllene Tider will meet this week to discuss which song will become the first single off "Finn fem fel". The single will be released to radio stations on May 17, and a proper release is expected early June. The Daily Roxette will stream Gyllene Tider's new single at midnight the 16th.
