Who's Who in Gyllene Tider...

Here is some interesting information about each of the guys in Gyllene Tider.

Per Gessle, Micke Syd, Göran Fritzon, MP Persson and Anders Herrlin

PER, GELLNER, GESSLE (vocals, guitar):

Per (Håkan) Gessle was born on January 12th, 1959 in Halmstad, and is one of the founders of Gyllene Tider (and his own motorcycle club - The Brian Jones Biker Club). Per has owned several cars and motorcycles, among them not one, but two Ferraris, 3 Harleys, a '58 'Vette and a couple of Mercedeses. He began playing the piano when he was seven, but nowadays you rarely see him without a guitar of some sort in hand. He is responsible for most of Gyllene's songs (text and music). Although he always claims Roxette is his Number One priority, Gyllene Tider, The Lonely Boys and his solo album (album #3) have also been taking up his time. Per has also started two new projects; Son of a Plumber and Bad Hair Day (his demo project).
Married to Åsa since '93 with son Gabriel, born '97.

MATS, MP, PERSSON (guitars):

Born on the 26th of February, 1959 in Harplinge (a village just northwest of Halmstad), Mats Arne Persson was not only GT's other founding member, but also the guy responsible for changing Per's mind about becoming an interior decorator... He began to play the piano at the age of five, learned the guitar (and how to ride a Hog) as a teenager and has (up until present day) also mastered the drums, bass and even the trumpet! Mats has a truly busy life, working with Roxette (mostly in the background), backing up the Lonely Boys and running his own company in Halmstad. Currently on his plate: Back On Stage (every Wednesday night at Penny Lane on Klammerdammsgatan in Halmstad). Lately he also runs studio T&A all by himself.

MICKE, KEEF, SYD, HOGGE, ANDERSSON (drums) :

The man, the myth, the nickname... (Jan) Mickael Andersson, who was born on March 12th, 1961 in Harplinge, began playing the organ at the age of ten, but switched to the drums not too long afterwards. Rumor has it that he's also a frustrated guitarist (see Parkliv!, the movie...). He has been extremely active in the music business after Gyllene Tider's breakup in 1985, and has worked with MaMas Barn, Nicke Strömstedt, QBTQ (Adam Alsing's former house band) and the Lonely Boys (among many others!). He had a hell of a time during Gyllene's "Återtåget '96!" tour, and is studying (as if he's not smart enough!). Released a solo single in 1997 - "In the Summertime". Micke is together with Helena and they have four children (Two each).

ANDERS, ACKE, ANKI, HERRLIN (bass) :

Anders Herrlin was born on September 17th, 1961 and also in Harplinge. Anders and Micke were childhood friends, and they often played the drums together. However, as their interest in music got stronger and they realized a band consiting of two drummer just wouldn’t cut it, they drew lots to see who would become the bassist; Anders won, and began to teach himself at the age of 15.
Anders has been terribly active in the business as well, as a musician, producer and engineer, working with Johnny Pilot, JaJaJa, Marie Fredriksson, Roxette and Carola (to name but a few). Anders is nowadays residing in Stockholm. 2002 he produced artist and girlfriend Jennie Löfgren's solo debut and together with her he's produced some of Mauro Scocco's new songs.

Interesting Facts:
***As a child, Anders and younger brother, Magnus, used to spend hours birdwatching; nature and everything related to it has always been one of Anders’ biggest interests, something which has been passed down to his son Victor.
***Anders was voted “Best Looking Guy in Sweden” by Vecko-Revyn readers in 1981. (He hated that.)
***Acke is a self professed computer freak (Apple).

GÖRAN, FRITTE, FRITZON (keyboards) :

(Sven) Göran Fritzon, the baby of the band, was born on April 21st, 1962 in Åled (which is on the trail to Harplinge). It wasn’t until the age of thirteen that Fritte started with the piano and keyboards, and he hasn’t looked back since. He had calmed down a little since his days as "Mr. Hyperactive-Stage Dancer", but recently got fired up again during "Återtåget '96!", when he once again played the synthesizer ("IT'S NOT A SYNTHESIZER!!! It's an ORGAN!!!) like a god.
After Gyllene's 1985 break-up, Göran toured a few times and even wrote a song together with Per for Elisabeth Andreasson ("Stjärnhimmel"), but was never continually active in the music scene until Gyllene's "Återtåget '96!". "I was never a musician; I was just a pop star..." He had worked in Halmstad at Offset Repro as a printer/scanner, and was just about to start up his own printing "outfit" when MP called with the the news that there “might” be a Gyllene tour... He quit Offset (since they wouldn’t give him the six month leave of absence he requested), and has now started his own business, Dynam.it, with all his money from Sweden's most successful concert tour in history...

Interesting Facts:
***Rumor has it that Göran’s big dream as a child was to be either an engineer or an Indian!
***He was never formally educated at a music school (except for an organ course in Halmstad at “Hagström's Musikskola”).
***His best subjects in school were English and Maths, while he could have done better in History...
***He even plays a little guitar, but very few have been witness to it!
***He is together with Jenny, but has two children, Emma and Erik, from a previous relationship. Fritte lives in a "castle" outside Oscarström.

***Partied most of the guys during the heydays!
